Help please!!!!!! Centre Diff constantly locked....
My95 STI Type-RA centre diff if permenantly locked even on fully open, no flashing diff light on dash saying theres a fault. I've even unplugged the DCCD and the dash light flashes but the diff is still permenantly locked..... Gear box has just been stripped and rebuilt so obviously this has something to do with this but we are all confused as to why it's still locked without any power feed please help anybody asap.......
It was done by a mate so i can't just take it back and say it's there prob....
Cheers Gaz

imho:
You will need to take it to a specialist.
The obvious thing to do you have. Pulling the lead to the gearbox should put the box into Open which frees it up to a large degree.
The only people i know who i would trust for this and not to rip you off are:
David at Welcome to the API website (who do my gearboxes)and is in West Midlands
Alyn at AS Performance - Rally Motorsport Specialists in Co Durham
There are others who are good but i do not know them.
Hope this helps.

Cheers for the replies, i was there when it was rebuilt definatly no crap clean environment and no damage to any of the parts rang the two suggested numbers API said the centre diff can't be reconned and i'm looking at 500 for a new one plus the vat just for the cente diff.....
Does anyone know how to unstick one as the only thing i can think is it has darined of oil and i've got nothing to loose....

How have you ascertained that the diff is permanently locked? Have you had it off the ground, or have you drawn the conclusion as it feels like its dragging a wheel?

Cheers for the replies everybody.
Yeah i've got it out, inner and outer shaft are free, as well as gear box, front diff etc all spot it can only be centre diff has anyone ever stripped one down?
Spoke to API and ZEN and apparently they can be stripped and cleaned unless the plates are goosed in which case you knackered cos ya cant get the clutch pack anymore, i've got nothing to lose.
Other option is either a direct replacement or Cusco centre diff (or similar) has anyone had any experience of these worth while or not???
Cheers for replying everyone
