I have a Jap import WRX on a 93 K plate and at Hi revs runs as though there is crap in the fuel missing and also suffers from total loss of power revs die completely every now and then, now I have seen other comments with regards to the waste gate solenoid and also coil packs etc but being rather new to the life with a scoob I'm not to sure on where to look for said items.
Any comments and information would be gratefull to try and sort this out.

OK, a few questions first!
What fuel do you run your car on??
Unleaded or super unleaded??
Do you get the symptoms when you only have a little bit of fuel in the tank or when your tank is over 1/2 full??
Im not sure where you get your parts from as ive a uk car but you can try WWW.Scoobysport.co.uk and see if Pete does any.

Could be that your fuel pump is on its way out?
The best thing to do is get her into a speciallist in your area (where are u?!)
It sounds as thou its not the fuel (i also run optimax and dont have any problems with it)
As john says it could be the spark plugs or even the leads? The leads wont be a problem to clean but id have thought that you would be getting rough running on them all the time thus it points more to your fuelling as it doesnt seem to put enough in
Have you tried another ecu?
you may have one thats on its way out?
Id definately take her to a speciallist thou.

Lambda sensor would be probable culprit if it was doing it off boost/low revs as they get tired, but if your probelm is at high revs seems not. If you are electronics inclined you could check your fuelling by checking the voltage from the lambda sensor - but you'd need a peak hold DVM or build yourself an LED setup for £10. So even though the ECU does not use the lambda sensor at high revs/boost conditions you can get an idea of your fuelling from it for a short time until the heat builds up. If all this means nothing to you forget I spoke and see a specialist!
Knowing your fuelling and boost can sort out many problems. Do you have a boost gauge? What is happening to the boost when it goes rough?
Do you have any error codes stored in the ECU? http://www.mrtrally.com.au/performance/
Go to the How Tos and see how to reset your ECU.

I'm in the Manchester area if anybody can point me in the right direction, could it not be the waste gate solenoid as had oil change begining of Sept and I feel they may have filled her up slightly to much, also for spark plugs can somebody please point me in the direction of where there gonna be situated as like I said I'm new to this scoob lark also would like to know where the waste gate solenoid is incase it is that.
It seems not to do it if I gradually build up the revs but if I just stick my foot to the floor ( Motorway driving ) it seems to do it.
No boost gauge so I can't answer that.
I did a ECU reset as stated on MRT's site as soon as I started using Optimax may need doing again I will give it a try over Christmas

It's hard to explain to be honest Tony it's like you said foot to the floor and it's like the boost dies and then picks up again but this happens in quick concession. Where about's is the boost solenoid ?
I live in the Stockport area rather than Manchester

Don't wanna jump to conclusions tho that's the problem, don't fancy paying out for an ECU then finding out it's something else
