Default Engine required! Ouch!

The oil pump has gone on my Version 5 STi and caused a complete failure of the engine (all valves bent, cams knackered etc, etc). I'm therefore in the market for a replacement engine, ideally another Version 5 STi (red top) but open to suggestions. Can anyone suggest where the best place to get one is or do you know of one for sale??

You should look into the price of rebuilding it to standard spec rather than getting a second hand one. You never know how long it may last if second hand. The price difference between rebuild and second hand engine is smaller than you think.

I'd tend to agree but when I reread the post it seems his rebuild may cost quite a lot due to all the head work required. I had a bottom end rebuild and that cost only a bit more than a replacement engine.

Don't understand how an oil pump failure goes and snaps your cambelt though

Try Bucks Subaru on 01494 564555 - I know they broke a low mileage P1 recently, which has the same engine as the STi V5

Try www.xspec.co.uk

I've had work done there, they are good (and fast) they do rallying etc.. check the website (under subaru products / services) at least you never know.

Good luck and sympathy.
