Gearbox mounting points
#2
There's four bolts that hold the mount to the gearbox itself, then two studs to hold the mount to the cradle (which is in three parts) and then four bolts hold the cradle to the bodyshell.

If so, if you look at the gearbox near the starter motor there is a label with a model code starting with either:
TY752 4 bolt
TY754 8 bolt

URGENT:
Will an 8 bolt gearbox casing fit to a 4 bolt engine?
Are the 754 boxes stronger than the 752 boxes?
Why did Subaru go to 8 bolt?..must have been for strength reasons??

Excellent, thanks for your help,
All i need now is a diff, I know its a 4.444 ratio but will any 4.444 fit? of any year impreza? This The SPDA - Transmission Chart is great for advice but doesn't really help with the diff questions!!!!
Also what does R160/R180 mean?

Yes, any '160' 4:444 diff will fit, and the STi has a limited slip unit, the Sti RA has a more competition orientated LSD. The WRX one is 'open' diff.
The 160 diff is the most common by far.
It will mate to your driveshafts and hubs .
The '180' is the stronger unit found in the Type R and other more rare/competition type Imprezas. To fit the 180 you must have the matching driveshafts and rear hubs.
I think all UK turbo rear diffs are 3.99 ratio.
Graham.

Visc lsd are very smooth, almost as if it is not there at all. The plated ones with creek and clunk when turning at low speeds.
Visc units are maintenance free.
I do know Sti V3 has visc(my 97) and Sti RA are plated.
