Oil again...................SORRY!
I need to do an oil change, no probs there then, however the issue i do have is that i'm a squaddie serving in Germany and i the best oil's that i can find are either Mobil 1 0-40, Castrol RS 0-40, and Liquid molly 0-40 (which is the most expensive?)
One of the guy's at work has this Liquid molly stuff in his Audi S4 and he recons it great and has actually lowerd his engine temps?
What is the opinion of the oil gurus, has anyone used Liquid Molly in a scoob?
I have a UK MY99 with just a full decat and induction kit at the moment

Cool, will do that, I also have one of the German civvies who work for me trying to find me a Silkolene dealer out here, will see if he can find a Motul dealer as well.
I'm thinking about the 15w of these oils that i'm being told to use, where i live in Germany the temp in the winter gets very very low, last year it was constantly -18 degrees, would this cause me an issue?

If your seeing -18degrees, use 0w-40 during the winter
The only difference between 10w-40 and 0w-40 is the latter uses thinner basestock and more viscosity improvers to attain better cold temperature performance...not an issue if you change oil regulary enough.

i'm not in the sticks but they are a strange bunch over here, you have to use the correct type for your car or they will not sell it to you, same as tyres, you have to use approved tyres for your car or it is illegal and the feds can nick you for it. A new law for this winter is that you MUST have winter tyres on during winter, if not you will get prosecuted and your insurance is invalid.
They very correct about it all, if it isn't aproved for your car then you are liable to prosecution???

I used winter tyres in Japan. Whilst it wasn't a legal requirement, I was heading off skiing regularly and it was soooo much more convenient to have winter tyres than to fiddle around trying to fit chains in the slush. They are undoubtedly better than summer tyres when the temperature falls below 7 degC, and especially in snow and ice conditions.
