Thumbs up

Had this done yesterday at Scoobysport after reading Sams' thread a couple of months ago, and after speaking to Pete C and Stu at a couple of meets.
I was hoping that after a decent drive I would get out thinking....'Mmmm, that was definitly quicker' and nothing much more. My god, what an understatement!!!!!!!!! The result is nothing short of astonishing, the difference is absolutely awesome. It seems to pull hard everywhere within the rev range, the turbo is quicker to spool up, and it gets there quicker too. The delivery is smooth and the sound is just .... Put it this way, it was bl**dy cold last night but I couldn't bring myself to put the windows up!!! I cant get over how stunningly responsive the power was, yet when driving thru town and residential areas everything seems fully restrained and controlled, and the noise is not obtrusive.
Unfortunately I didn't have the DP and manifold done seperately so I cannot quantify how much difference each thing did, but as a duo I cannot recommend them highly enough, they are the dogs b*ll*x!!!!

One down side though, it has effected fuel economy cos I cant stop driving it now!!!!

Pleased for you.

You should be thinking ecu, turbo and injectors, follwoed by front mounted intercooler.

Its not an off the shelf part, they port and flow the original manifold on your car. I dropped the car off yesterday morning and picked it up after work, it basically costs a couple of hours labour. I'll mail you the exact cost.

Is this using the standard downpipe, or do you have an uprated one?

Downpipe probably gave the most benefit?

Carl-Scoobysport downpipe.

Deep-You're probably quite right,I'm sure the DP would have made a large difference alone, but not this much, I'm still smiling now

Cool

I wish Mr Croney had told me this when I had the P1 "fully scooby sported" a month ago.

Pete, if you're listening, I will need to have this ASAP!

Red face

Doesn't the porting of the existing cast manifold increase the likelyhood of a car running lean? Which you cannot compensate for with the standard ECU. A P1 with just a full exhaust system would be just about able to cope. But with ported headers it may tip the balance too far.

El Lawson did my porting a few weeks back, along with fitting a DP and APS cold air induction kit. Top job (but I cant exactly check, can I , good service/price. Different car when it came back.
First stop was to PE for a RR check. Car running slightly leaner but not in the danger levels.

Paulmc.

If it has done any good it will run leaner. There is no evidence to suggest the full exhaust pushes teh standard ecu to its limit. It does have a buffer by running rich as standard.

this is why I always say fit a lambda link before anything else.

This way you know if your mods have changed anything and also whether you need to consider a new ecu/injectors.

This does not prevent getting the headers done from being a good idea.

I did mine myself on a used set that I bought from a breaker's. I bought a die grinder for £35 and it took me about 4 hours using tungsten carbide burrs. I've never done this before hence the reason why it took so long but I was getting much quicker by the time I'd finished!! However, the manifolds wouldn't fit (see Sam's thread) due to the crossover pipe flange on the right hand manifold being at a different angle which made the pipe foul the oil filter and the pipe itself was longer by about 5mm. The left hand manifold was fine. I then set about the original RH manifold which took me about an hour to do - there are 3 ports to open out and the one to the up pipe needed opening out by 6mm!! I then fitted the lot with an up pipe from Graham Goode. The difference is quite noticeable and the job's worth doing. Every single pipe on the induction and exhaust side of my car has now been changed and it still isn't running lean according to my AFR. As Adam says, ECU, turbo, injectors, FMIC........I feel a bank raid coming on

Raymond.
