Oil leek
Hi there is oil around where the gearbox joins to the engine, I am presuming it is gearbox oil as the engine oil level has not moved. Will this have done any damage to the diffs?

mines def gearbox oil cos the engine oil level has stayed the same, just spoke to some idiot in a breakers in birmingham about a new gearbox, this is how the conversation went.
(him) I have the gearbox you need.
(Me) excellent have you got the number on the side
(Him) not to hand
(me) would you be able to get it
(him) why they are all the same
(me) how do you know it is the origional box in the car
(him) I don't
(me) well there are about 10 different boxes can you get the number and ring me back.
(him) yeah but all that changed was the numbers on the box.
sure as hell will not be buying from him.

The leak could be from the plates that cover the gudgeon pin hole in the back of the block, it may seem as if the engine oil level hasn't moved, but oil goes a long way, ie, a very small amount would look like a serious leak..... sadly i think you need to get the box out and then decide where it's coming from.....

the box needs to come out 3rd has gone and the box is now empty of oil and for the amount that has came out and is sitting on my drive i would def notice it on the engine level.
