Default sloppy stick

Hi all new to forum and looking for some help...

I have MY93 WRX Import but it has a very sloppy gear stick...all the gears are there and can all be used without any problem but in or out of gear the gearstick can be moved all over the place, have been told that the bush in top of box needs replacing but when i spoke to local scooby dealer he didnt seem intersted with it as its an import....

Has anyone else had the same problem? and if so how did they fix it?

Thanks to all with some imfo

Before you do that, take a look under the car, by the gearbox/shifter linkage., just where the prop shaft comes out of the box.

There should be a spring there from the bottom of the gear stick to a large pressed disc, about 50mm in diameter that traps the hard rubber link.
That spring (about 50mm long x 10mm diameter) biases the lever to one side and tends to give the shifter gait feel and a posative 'home'.

If it is not there, the spring is used on a UK Turbo. Dead cheap.

If that is there then give David at www.apiengines.com a call for advice.

He is a safe bull**** -free zone.

Hope that helps/works for you.
