Default gearboxes

which scooby has the best box, i mean. my car top end cut out at just over 140mph, but that cut out, not flat out. that was something to do with the ecu. but in all, which is best. sti, p1's, wrx's, wr1's, type r's. im thinking of getting a better box, my car when pulling off fast seems to miss when changing to second, only happens when giving it a little stick. or is this the same with all the boxes.

The cutting out after a hard start is likely to be the engine rev limiter cutting in to save the engine!
The best box is one that suits your needs.
If you want a high top speed transmission(sounds like you go fast on your test track) then probably a UK box/diff is best.
If you want to go really fast to about 60 then an RA box/diff will be good for you.

For a good all-rounder then an Sti trans is a good middle ground IF you have a rev limit of about 8000 rpm as the RA/Sti Jap cars do.

An RA/sti box on a UK turbo engine would be cr@p I think.

Hope this helps you reach your goal or terminal speed!
