Default TD05 boost issues

quick car spec;

`95 leggy turbo

K&n induction,
TD05 90 degree entry,
apexi avcr,
FCD,
mongoose from turbo back.

by looking at previous posts it appears the td05`s pull max boost usually somewhere around the mid 3000rpm`s,

mine only starts to pull heavy boost after 5000rpm and peaks around 14-16psi at 6000 odd rpm,

mods are ongoing but obviously something is not right, any ideas?

checked for leaks, none as far as i can see,

does the same when piped straight from turbo - actuator / could mapping cause this?

turbo seems in good enough shape, no play or smoke,

could there be issues with the actuator?

The ECU isn't mapped for a TD05 from your description... That sounds like it more to me.

its the AVCR thats controlling the boost.
check the mechanical stuff FIRST, then re configure the AVCR.

however- for a TD05 to be boosting that late- I would say mechanical issue (or you really really cant setup the AVCR for **** )

lol, the avcr has just been installed, but the turbo was doing this previous to its installation, therefore before setting up the avcr properly i`d rather try and sort out this issue instead of wating time trying to set it up when its never going to work,

looks like investigation of the turbo is next on the list then ;(

cheers

ok.
defo turbo.

check actuator, around exhaust housing/wastegate for cracks and hoses.

I would put money on ex housing damage.
I had similar on my old P20 MD304 turbo..
Hairline crack barely visible around wastegate penny which widened enough when hot to lose me over 45bhp/30lbft!!
Wasnt seeing 1 bar until almost 4300rpm!

Was fixed with an ehxaust housing swap..
the old one had to go in the bin

had a quick look this morning, actuator is working and from the outside at least wastegate appears to be closing, no visible cracks from outside.

Have you tried disconnecting the wastegate completely?
