I used castrol syntrax in my 98uk, seemed fine, took any noise away and made smooth changes. It was recommended by quite a few people.

Need to do mine again on my 99uk, dunno weather to use the same stuff or what else is available.

David,

Okay did not know that....

I am getting a crackling sound travelling up from under the gear stick some where, then i take my foot of the accelerater when driving, noticable in 3rd and 4th gear...nothing under the car seems loose..the only thing i thought of was maybe the gearbox oil needs to be changed....

any thoughts?

There is a thing called gear lever 'tizz' which means that a vibration is travelling up the stick. Usually a sign of worn bushes in the linkage. Best I can offer down the phone without hearing it myself.

Good luck David APi
