You didnt say whether it was an import or not? aparently these are stronger as they have steel selectors as opposed to the uk alloy ones....

Steve, I think you know what happened to my (purchased new) UK MY03/04 6MT after 23000 miles with over 400 lbft, had a bit of track and drag, a mixture of commuter driving and brain out stuff as well. The dog ring was damaged on 5th gear, as well as the bush on the selector fork so it was jumping out of 5th. 1 & 2 synchros were on back order and not too bad, so I had 3-6 synchros, all the selector forks, and 5th gear and its hub replaced at a total cost of £1118 inc VAT and collection/delivery. Yes I could have bought another used box and that could have been faulty so I went for a quality repair as it is my only car not a weekend warrior.
I'm not going to drag it again, but probably will track it. Although I will be changing more carefully, and there will be no flat shifting.

What are you working on now Andy?
Don't think mine is doing bad for the performance I am getting out of essentially a factory drivetrain, about 5 weeks off the road in the last 18 months.

My JDM six speed is running at a minimum 402 lb ft (more now I have the M800 in) and i have had no issues, even with my "practice" launches for TOTB which I'm still getting to grips with. So far its done nearly 10k miles. It was supplied used by David at API. I have the uprated STi clutch (HEAVY !!) and light flywheel (six speed size)

Bob:
What effect do you think the diffs have on traction?
Are they just 'soft' or do they really get to gripswith spinning wheels?
I hill climb my Sti v3 with a stock trans, and thinking a tougher Jap DM 6 speeder with rear diff and these Ltd Slips will be good and allow the use of real hill climb Avon slicks.
Graham.
