Default 100mph is 4th at 7krpm on a 95wrx is this right?

Ok after a long running problem on my 95 wrx ive finally traced it to the speedo converter (I Think) when I have it on the speedo is wrong and without it its still loads wrong. I know the speed is correct as I have a road angel gps with speedo readout. The car does 100mph in forth at 7krpm is this right? I know they are low geared but previous cars ive had would do 100mph in third (VR6 Golf, Nissan 200sx) could the car have a different gearbox which would explain why the speedo is so far out, without the converter the speedo reads 210kmh at 100mph, the speedo clocks havent had a cover put on them to convert to mph just a sticker to cover the kmh. The car speedo only goes to 240kmh and 100mph is 210kmh, it reads just over double when the converter should be 1:6.
My only guess is its got a different gear box
any ideas?
cheers simon

It is not a std speedo face if it reads to 240kph.

On a std face you would be reading about 160kph at the same position the 240 is at.

100mph = 160kph divide mph by 5 then multiply by 8

just a thought. If you have a geared converter, is it possible to fit ar$e about face so instead of reducing the cable speed, to the head, it's increasing it?

i.e. at 100 mph on gps, g/box would run the std cable set up for 160kph. Converter ratio (if fitted wrong) would increase this to read 256 kph.

Standard clock, on mine before conversion and MPH sticker reads to 180kph which is 112.5 mph which is the limiter setting on imports.

Hope all that makes sense and not cr@p
