Default Downpipe on Ebay - any good?

Hi.

Been looking for a downpipe for my car, and stumbled on this one on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WDVW

Does anyone know if it's any good? I generally tend to be a bit suspicious of these kind of "value" parts from Ebay, but who knows it might just be like the Megan headers... great price and good reviews from those who bought them.

So, has anyone had any experience with these?

Cheers,

Paulo

Personally am not a fan of the blanked off wastegate area. I would rather get an open-neck design with splitter from the likes of Hayward and Scott

Probably being thick but where the hell do the wastegate gasses go when it opens? Is there some advantage in doing this? I would of thought only if you want premature failure - someone enlighten me please?

Thank you for your replies.

I also didn't notice the blanked off wastegate area. So i'm going to stay away from this.

Guess it's back to the classifieds area to see if i can find a nice used downpipe for sale

Thats how it is OE too. In the turbo housing that bolts up to the downpipe, the wastegate and exhaust blades are set back a bit, so there is a chamber that the gasses pass into. The wastegate gasses have to turn through 90 degrees and hit the main flow from the turbo, which pass though this chamber straight into the downpipe.

Bit naughty in some ways as the banner downpipes in the Ad. are open neck.

Fitted many of these and fine for 300bhp cars. Good cheap upgrade.

Cheers, understand now. So basically the open neck and "twin dump" (?) designs are better as the wastegate gas doesn't interfere with the turbine gas giving smoother flow? Hence smoother/quicker spool etc and all the benefits?
