Default Rocker 1/2 Moon Seals

I'm currently replacing the gaskets on the rocker covers, but I'm not sure if the half moons need replacing aswell.

Plus do I need a sealant, I've cleaned up the surfaces and oiled the seals so the fit is good.

Cheers

you should use silicone sealant yes.. if the halfmoons are in the heads solid then they should be okay.. an obvious risk though..

I changed the drivers side gasket on my 93 WRX, and didn't need to change the half-moons. I made an attempt to remove them, but since they didn't budge, I assumed they must have been making a good seal!

I used gasket compound on the areas where the gasket changed direction - ie; on the corners and where it passes around the cam.

2 years on, so far, so good

The place I bought them from said they didn't need anything sealant but I might just use some to be on the safe side. The half moons seem to be very solid but I might put some sealant on them too,

Cheers guys.

Deffo use sealant, but make sure you do not use too much as it will collect in the engine oil

I find the main part to us the sealant on is the lower half as this is mainly where the oil sits and leaks.

Cheers Rob, I'll go purchase myself some sealant, I thought I might get the job finished tonight but weathers a bit miserable in Perth at the moment, hope its better by the weekend.
