Gearstick gaiter after 5spd to 6spd box change
My 6 spd gearbox is now in, after some pi55ing about. The first box, UK, did not want to change gear unless you were rolling and even then it crunched horrendously, and making nasty noises from the transfer box. We now have a Jap box which seems to playing ball, and the proper rear diff is being fitted this week.
However, I have a final dilemma. I have purchased a 6 spd gearknob, but what do I do to get the gaiter to fit? Do I just cut it or can I get a 6 spd gaiter from Subaru?
Cheers
Lin

Anyone - are you telling me no-one else has had this problem when changing boxes?
I've just called my local dealer and have been told that the gaiter is different - can anyone challenge this?

Remove all the silvery dome shape bits (cut / grind / bludgeon) and the 5 speed gaitor will slide over the stick without the **** on.
Personally I found the stick too long and hence high, so I also shortened it AND whilst I was at it made it a quckshift as well.
here's where it needed cutting for ALL the mods I've done to mine.

Thanks Fuzz & Mr Knight! It's nice to know what you've done.
Cheers Paul for moving me
I'm going to use my expertise in the sewing department having had a think - as I've put the gaiter from my old stick on there but cut out the plastic ring bit. At the moment, it is sat looking a bit messy.
Thanks again
