Default Front wheel bearing?

I'm going to change the front wheel bearing on my MY00 classic. Has anybody else changed one and has anybody else had any problems with them. Everybody I have spoken to say the fronts never go, it's always the back. The symptoms I have are not quite the same as other bearings on other cars I've had, as in the constant rumbling from which ever side the bearing has gone on. This is a really loud squeak, squeak, squeak from the left hand front wheel whenever the car is on any right hand lock, usually at speed. As the lock is increased it sometimes turns into a really sickning graunch. I've had the front brake apart, checked the backing plate, had the disc off, cleaned and fettled the whole lot and I'm now pretty convinced it's the wheel bearing. CV joint looks fine as well and it's not making knackered CV joint noises, but I am open to second opinions.
Thank you,
Jamie

Thanks for that, your probably right about the ball joint as it slightly wanders a bit at speed when you give it some throttle. I'm getting a bearing tomorrow and will probably fit it on monday and I'll let you know how I get on.

usualy when you "hears" the bearing,it's too late.hub is also dead
we have very big problems on circuits with slick tyres especially on summer.
the you have to do is to bring fresh air with hoose to the rotor

Update, sorry I haven't been in touch. Stripped it on Monday, hubs knackered along with the bearing. Should be getting a new hub flange on monday as the dealer ordered the wrong part. Once it's all done I'll let you know how I get on.

Update, All rebuilt, fairly easy job to do if you have access to a press. Just remember to mark the top bolt for the strut or you'll knock the camber out. Also the hub wasn't cheap, about £170. Car drives fine now with no wandering, if you'd seen the wear on the hub it would explain it perfectly. All in it was only about 3 hours work apart from the wait for bits.
