Default Rolling road

Just got my car done at power engineering and i got 296 bhp and 263 lbs/ft. Its an STI V2 with exhust system and air filter. Is this any good?

Let me know what your JDM stis are doing and what mods you have done so that i can chose my next step.

That sounds good to me.
Was that on Optimax and stock ecu?

My Sti v3 cracked 314/280 with a boost controller set @ 1.25 bar. Very nice engine.

Same car with extensive external mods just given 407/330
See my Projects Thread 'Bolting on 360 x 330...by 911 for the details.

Good luck, this is a very slippy slope you are just about to tread on

Well it was on optimax and millers octane booster. I think its got an stock ecu but apartrently it might have an super chip due to thier being an bleed valve on the car and as soon as the tuner saw it he said that was part of the superchip tune they do.

Who knows we have to get the ecu out and check it out.

Your runing 1.25 bar im only runing 0.9 bar and was told to go no further. The thing is i have an boost controller waiting to go in but he said leve the car well alone and dont do anymore to the engine coz it will more then likly go bang.

I need some advice can you help?

Thats about right with the mods you have, fuel cut would need sorting to go more boost (if not already modded).

You power junkie you!!!

I think that white sti of yours wont stay like that much longer - and I hope you've taken those fog light covers off (or have they blown off yet!!)

Wonder who I could be?

Car will never be as fast as that Skyline - but you have to keep away from lamposts!

upping boost is fine, but only if you adjust fueling and ignition (or at least checking that things are ok !)

My Sti v3 developed a sever case of fuel cut/overboost.
Power Engineering had the car, found it had been running 1.6 bar on their rollers...no wonder it went well.

They intalled the Blitz as the answer, set it to 1.25 max boost on the stock ecu/fuel pump and injectors. The 440cc's were on max duty.
This gave 314bhp.

I drove and seriously hill climbed the car for 2 seasons very very hard and never missed a beat until the head gasket went (possibly related to the 1.6 bar?)

The car ran realy well after API had done the gaskets for me, better than it ran before.

The engine is well got at now and despite this runs so well even at 407 bhp.

Cruises (and overtakes) like a ....expletive...

I don't think Sti engines are weak, poor tuning makes them weaker.

Find and stay with a good mapper and seek ALL the advice you can get on this Site.
Read all the Project threads!

Well power engineering said it was runing spot on fueling and ignition but if i turn to 1.2 bar will i have to change injectors or anything on the fueling side to make it safe. The last thing i want is it to go bang coz i have lost so much mney when i wrote my gtr off. So i dont want to have to rebuild my engine.

Is it best to change the injectors, fuel pump and reg first or can i run 1.2 bar as it is?

Thanks to all your replys but i will be picking your brains as i no **** all about these things im a skyline boy. I mean it took me a hour to the fuel reg. following all the fuel lines lol

I think you can get a very nice car from:

Walbro 225 pump and 550cc injectors..............£400 new pump/2nd hand injectors
Apexi FC ECU
1.25 bar, custom map (use AndyF)..................£700
SX fuel press reg.........................................£150

About 325 bhp or more and a fat torque band.

Are the uprated injectors required for that level of power if you have a SQ reg (glad you didnt say FSE!) and an uprated fuel pump

Yes I guess the Andy F route is nice and cheap route other than a full blown external ecu - shame you cant do an ecutek on the older cars!

Or if you go for the injectors I'd be investing in a bigger Turbo - thats the real restriction in the system - was on my car..................... - but then I have gone a little further than standard modificiations

Best routes for me (after exhaust and filter) were

1. Aftermarket ECU
2. Bigger Turbo
3. Map with two bottles of Millers!

I didnt change the injectors till I was at 350bhp and I didnt change the fuel pump/or add a fuel regulator till I was over 400bhp

i was under the bonnet agian today looking aroung and the turbo i have got is an TD05h is that uprated as i was reading in 911 project that he went out and brought one to fit his sti 3 ?. With the boost controller do you still use the standard bleed soloniod and bleed the air off before it?

How much does it cost for andy f to map and where is he based?

also was driving around today and i was getting a jault when i boot it and then it flys off any ideas? I was reading about this problem it seems to come up alot .

Madden,

I have been running 1.25bar on my Sti V3 for 2 years withour probs. Like 911, I went for a Blitz BC after my de-cat kept causing overboost! RR'd at Power Engineering at 310/296 - only over mods are de-cat, VTA dump and green panel filter - fuelling spot on! Run on Optimax and Miller - only ever lit up 2 greens on Knowcklink at full chat!

right im giong to do it but first i need to know if i still have to use the standard soloniod ? Do i bleed the air off before the soloniod or remove it complelty.

And what is the standard boost and what ignition timing are you runing?
