hi after the mapping sesion today with andy my 93 wrx maf was maxed out at 5800 rpm not a real problem at the moment cause we mapped round about it but thinking about further mods so looking to find out if anyone has transpanted a new age (sti7/8) maf sensor on to a classic?

I'm working on it using the STi5, MY99-00 fragile maf replaced by MY01 on toughy. Work to date is ok. There are several issues to work around though and a couple are quite significant. Not alot of help to you though.

Not saying right now, if it works then it will be the result of a lot of hours, ecu flashes etc and if I can do it then I will want to offer it as a commercial upgrade to MY99-00 owners seeking remap options. Its no problem to use it in conjunction with maf based aftermarket ecu's however I want to use the oem.

David, there are five different MAF options in the PowerFC, and the curves are fully programmable. Not a problem to swap to another sensor or to fit the OEM sensor in a larger tube, or with a bend before it if going into the wing with your filter, which rescales things as well.

I presently run my Power FC (MY00) without a MAF sensor, which is another option, especially for a 4" inlet tract on a short intake with a ported shroud turbo, then your fuelling is only limited by the MAP sensor you choose.

A MAF emulator box I made - reads RPM, MAP and TPS and simulates a MAF sensor. Inexpensive parts but huge amount of R&D in it.

If you can run a reliable MAF which gives no issues on feathering the throttle then I would.
