Question P18 to P20. Benefits?

I have a MD321 turbo fitted with a P18 housing. What would be the benefits?power increase in switching to a P20 housing. Im aware there will be an increase in lag but not too worried about this.

Thanks
Nathan

Do you have the P20 housing... if not there is somebody looking to go the other way to you. See below:

Nathan, it would benefit your Sti, you have the revs to make use of the larger housing. The smaller P18 has a habit of strangling the turbo at higher revs...as Tony says, seek out Brad (Chrome) and do a swap

I'm sorry guys, this is very misleading.

The MD321 is a 400bhp turbo, and the P18 housing is MORE than capable of flowing 400bhp ++.

The P18 is bigger than the TD05 exhaust housing, and I think it's fair to say that the TD05 housing is well proven at well over 400bhp !

Fitting a P20 to this turbo will give tiny, if any gains, but increase lag by several hundred RPM.

Mark.

I agree with Mark on this one as I actually tried it on my own MD321 (STi8), no noticable gains only it spooled up 500 rpm later, not really worthwhile on its own.

Cheers guys.
Spoke to the makers of the turbo(turbo dynamics) and they say the turbo can give upto 440bhp depending on supporting mods. As im only running a 2ltr, this will be more than enough for me. Gonna stick with the P18.
