Default puff of smoke on cold start up

I've noticead that the last couple of times when starting up the engine from cold (my97 uk turbo, 80k miles) there has been a puff of blue-grey smoke. I've been doing some research here and found that one possible cause is overfilling the oil. So I checked this and it is just above the F on the stick. The oil was changed when I bought the car. Should I remove some?

I've also seen some post where other people have had blue smoke on start up and a variety of other explanations were voiced, including that it was normal on a turbo'd car. Any opinions on this?

Many thanks
Nick

You're scaring me now! Weren't there any other symptoms in addition to the smoke?
