Default Subaru Honda hybrid

Ive got an interesting project on the go and I need some advise. Ive got a 93 civic coupe body thats going to be the platform for my new mutt-car. Ive got an acura 1.8l inline four that im using as a powerplant (because i like honda engines) and my dad has a 91 subaru Gl? sitting around back home. If memory serves me correstly, this car was normally fwd and had a button on the shift lever for awd. Now ive already looked at the adaptability between the gl tranny and the honda engine and i think itll work out after a bit of fabing. All i want to know is, if this drive train will be able to hold up and provide good performance once i get the engine to perform the way i want it ( about 400 bhp).

Thanks for your help
Sean

GL transmission at 400bhp? Hell our turbo transmissions start crapping themselves around 350bhp and 350lb-s torque.

No I think would be the answer.

I thought all Subarus were AWD permantly. Even the L Series was..... But I might be wrong.

Nope the older ones were available in fwd only as well. The one my dad used to drive around in was only fwd. So what is the strongest subaru transmission available right now? If possible does anyone know of an older model so that its easier to find one at the wreckers.

I stand corrected Totally forgot about the 1.6 Litre Imprezas were only FWD.

Strongest Subaru transmission to take 400bhp is the new STI 6 Speeder.

If it's a '91, it won't be an Impreza at all - right?
