Engine shield ?
Hi all,
I have seen where a few in here have removed the undertray or engine shield thing. Some say it may help out with cooling etc ?
Is there any negatives like water from a wet road or debris causing damage or would a little water in there be no big deal ?
Cheers,
Ray

By removing the splash guard you allow air to spill out under car rather than being directed down the tunnel.
The airflow through the rad and thus down the tunnel is calculated carefully by Subaru. It is designed thus to correctly cool the engine block and transmission.
It would be best to be left on.
Ditto the bonnet 'vents', which are purposefully covered over and should not be opened up unless to do a specific task like provide DIRECTED air to the intake system via an aftermarket mini scoop. Opening them up just allows rain onto the turbo boost solenoid and others and WILL cause misfires etc.

I've noticed reduced oil temp by cutting out a sump sized hole in mine.
I'm sure Bob rawle also proved this too!
I can't run without it as the UK300 lip spoiler fastens into the undertray!
It's also quicker to do an oil change without the tray on and the monkey's some dealers employ usually fill the undertray felt with oil when they do oil changes badly ;-)

Ian
