Default Magnex Style exhaust for bugeye.

Are there any other back boxes like the Magnex?

As in not as noisy as the huge ones, and blend in with a standard car pretty well, not like these 5" slash cut carbon jobbies.

not sure where you are coming from here, but yes Magnex make a couple of options for the "new-age" cars...................tend to be more 'civilised' than some of the japanese systems in cruise as well

Hey up,

I'm on the hunt for a low-profile exhaust system as well at the moment. Unfortunately, Magnex only do a 6x4" oval outlet, so I have been looking at the Scoobysport and H&S system as they both have 3.5" rolled outlets from the backbox.

There is a thread somewhere on SN at the moment playing the 2 suppliers off, with a proposed test to finally put to bed the performance, noise and stlye arguments once and for all... (long story, get reading!).

Anyway, if you don't fancy going to far down the modded route, then let me know - make a reasonable offer on my STi Type UK backbox, centre and cat section pipes and they're yours... Over to you.

Think you'll find that the 3.5" Magnex BB only fits a classic scoob, we're bug-eyed

If I could find a round magnex to fit an MY02 I'd have it - had a full de-cat magnex on my RB5 and it was sweet!

Eddie.

My Magnex system was on an MY01 WRX and it wasn't a 6x4

JW Racing used to sell a very nice 3.5 inch slash cut back box.

Cheers

I take it you used a classic scoob BB and put it on your bug-eye then? If you check out the magnex catalogue the only BB or >01 are 6x4's? Not after a slash cut or a universal box (told you I was picky!)

Looks like Messrs Hayward & Scott will taking some cash off me soon...

Cheers,

Ed

Eddie,

You are wrong.

Jamie from JW Racing had a 3.5" slash cut backbox (made by Magnex)that was made specifically for the bugeye. This is what was fitted in my car.

Give Jamie a ring

Martin,

Been surfing around and I just cannot find a 3.5" rolled BB for a bugeye. The only one that JW have advertised is this...

http://www.j-w-racing.co.uk/acatalog...ck_System.html

I have sent Jamie an e-mail to see if he can shed some light, but from all the catalogues I have viewed and web pages that I've surfed I still cannot find the BB that you claim to have!

To illustrate, I am after this exact model but for the bugeye (see top right image)...

http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/fra...x-exhausts.htm

Oh, and here is Magnex's own product list...

http://www.magnexexhausts.com/produc...tem/subaru.htm

Either I'm going mad or my search engine's are SH*TE!

Cheers,

Ed

Ed,

I am hoping that bJamie is going to see this thread and put both our minds at rest.

IIRC About 3 years ago Jamie worked very closely with Magnex to develop his own 'style' of exhaust. The result was an excellent 3.5 inch slash cut backbox. I had the full turbo back system and produced a great sound and helped me get 351bhp from my MY01 WRX. Since then I have changed to the Revolution system.

This system now is fitted to Rusty's (from Cumbrian Scoobs) car.

If you can track one down, I can highly recommend one.

Yeah, hope Jamie see this or gives me a reply to my PM. I'm thinking that the issue of the cut back exhaust isn't helping my quandry either - I was after an exhaust with a 90 degree finished edge...

Thanks for all your help so far m8...

45000 from new on a WRX 03, but they don't wear out. I have offered it to some one who pm'd me yesterday for £150, I'll let you know if they don't want it.

Ok Gary, have you got any pics so I can gauge wear and tear? 45k is a mile or 2 more than I would have liked, but at the right price I'm sure we can strike a deal. Also, where abouts are you located.

Cheers,

Ed

Sorry Martin, Jamie has mailed me back stating that he only does the oval magnex backbox or 'the bigger Jap type systems for that model year'?

Think I'll just make a choice between the H&S or the Sccobysport. Any opinions on which is best (with the knowledge that the H&S system is certainly cheaper). Probably been flogged out before, but it's a good way to get my posts up seeing as I'm back to Newbie status!!!

Cheers,

Found one Martin!

Roadrunners will be delivering on Tuesday, Magnex cat-back exhaust with 4" rolled tip + a K&N Panel Filter for £400 delivered!

With perseverance and a little luck we got there in the end!
