Unhappy turbo blown?? Urgent help required!!!

Hi all

lastnight when i was driving the car..... took off from the line normally.... in 1st, changed into 2nd then went to put foot down, and the car just backed off completely, followed by a loss of boost completely, wont go above 0 on the boost gauge, and a really loud whining noise... like a police siren!!! sounds like the turbo....

pulled into car park and few friends gathered round to listen... when u push the accelerator the boost gauge goes from the -478 negative vaccum, to 0, but wont go above, even in gear...

when u let off the pedal, you can hear the turbo spinning down.

i cant drive the car above 2000rpm coz the noise drowns out my exhaust!!! and it wont even boost

ive spoken to Lateral performance, and they think it could be the oil feed pipe was blocked and the turbo didnt cool?

i have a Apexi AVC-R boost controller, ive checked the boost hoses etc, and cant see a split in hoses etc...

please help! do i need a new turbo or not

Cheers
James

It could be your dump valve has failed ? or a split in a hose you can't see ?

If it is the turbo then it may be rebuildable depending on which type you have fitted ?

If it is the original turbo (assuming type R) then its a bin job I'm afraid.

Many options to select from for a replacement, shop around is my advice.

Hi andy

i spoke to Lateral performance and they mentioned yourself as the person to speak to in regards to getting TD05 turbo

my car is only a impreza turbo UK unfortunatley as the TypeR never got finalised

so TD04 is the turbo i have

could you PM me with the prices for TD05's you do for my car, being front entry, and would it be a suitable replacement?

Kind Regards for help

James

Have you tried the intercooler Y piece hose under the intercooler. My mates car blew this to bits doing a similar thing. Probably worth a set of Samco hoses.

Hope this helps.

you have checked that the actuator arm(i think thats right) is still connected to the turbo as i had mine slip off 3 times and you instanly loose all boost and power but luckily everytime its happene to me ive had someone in the car who knows about the engines

plus i was taking the pi55 when i said split hose as everyone seems to say that for everything boost related was mentioning that to andy on nthursday
