I've been using Motul 300v 15/50 in MY00 with no probs for the last 12000 miles.
Changing oil + filter every 3/4K

Default Used oil analysis from 300V 5W-40

Hello!

Here's little more proof that 300V is good stuff to street also:

I would shortlist the following brands and grades but then again I'm biased or so they say!

Silkolene PRO S 5w-40
Silkolene PRO S 10w-50
Silkolene PRO R 15w-50

Motul 300V 5w-40
Motul 300V 10w-40
Motul 300V 15w-50

5w and 10w oils will be better for cold start protection during the winter months!

You can always email me through my profile.

Cheers
Simon

I use Mobil 1 15W-50 Motorsport Formula fully synthetic in my MY99. Been thrashing the motor with this, Sprinting and Hillclimbing with no problems.
Demon Tweeks, Power Engineering, plus I suspect many others can supply.

Alyn,

My original debate was against the use of 10w-60 as it's too thick when up to operating temperature. I've always listed 5w-40, 10w-40 and 10w-50 as the best options. There may be a requirement for 15w-50 in extremely modded or track use cars but it's never going to be the best "all year round" grade.

Cheers

Jesus, not this again....MY00, tek3, with supporting mods, RS10/60, same as Bob Rawle who is known to have done pretty exhaustive testing, both on track and for road use. Appreciate that oilman seems to know his stuff about oil, but if the info you require is in connection with something Subaru related, I'd be listening to Bob, tbh. Someone let me know if Bob's changed his stance on this stuff in the meantime!

At the end of the day, use what you want, I'm just giving my professional opinion as someone who is in the oil business. As I've said before, I cannot recommend oils that I consider as not the best for the job, that would be unprofessional and wrong.

Look at your handbook and you'll see what I'm talking about.

As I've said before, I sell RS 10w-60 and have chemical analysis of the product, it's not a true synthetic, it's a hydrocracked oil but you pay synthetic prices for it.

Please don't shoot the messenger, where else would you find out such information?

I'm trying to be objective, constructive and informative and all my posts are based on facts not supposition.

Cheers

You can use it but PRO S 10w-50 would be my recommendation.

All PRO oils are ester based synthetic race oils.

10w-50 = best of both worlds.

Cheers
