Post Random poor starting

I have a standard RB5 which has a persistant but total random problem of poor starting. Over the past 6 months of ownership it has happened about 5 times.

For an unknown reason the engine takes anything upto 4 or 5 seconds to start.
This can happen at any time, weather conditions or the temp of the car dont seem to be obvious factors.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Would the much talked about earthing kit help?
New battery?
Or is this just a problem that effects impreza's like the juddering clutch?

Thumbs up

My MY00 suffers from this very occasionally, don't think it's really battery related as I had a new one just over a year ago, although that said the car doesn't do many long journeys and I know the alarm system does drain the juice quite heavily. The earthing kit as I understand is a very worth while mod to do, (must get around to doing it myself), I'd try that to start as it can't do any harm, if the problem then persists get the battery checked.
