I get an extra 10-15 miles on £25 of Optimax after having a Fidanza 4.2KG FW fitted.....was 145ish, now 155-160 miles. Not exactly a scientific answer I know, just my findings

how EXACTLY would you say it has changed the driving experience?

Throttle response is vastly increased. Accelleration is noticably stronger, especially through the first 3 gears. Getting away cleanly from a standing start takes adjustment.....I stalled the car a few times initially but quickly got used to balancing the throttle and clutch for a smooth, fast get away.

Overall, a worthwhile modification.

Agreed, had mine fitted a few weeks back and other than a few stalls its all good...I'm fitting a HKS cirlce of Earth this week as its suppossed to help a lot at idle to keep things more stable...

not so much idle but as there is less inertia you have to apply more power so any way of smoothing the idle out at stationary is going to make pulling away smoother (I hope )

what cars are these f/wheels on lads - I am looking to improve the pulling away from junction scenario on STi PPP 03 UK - where it just dies once clutch engaged at less than 4k rpm also better blip factor

What are gear changes like - that is what the original mass was there for to smooth them out - and idle..

Mine is on a 96 UK Saloon. Gear changes are fine. Revs probably drop a tiny amount more than standard between changes but boost builds very quicky as the engine revs more quickly. As said, my idle is unchanged.

getting back to MPG

its just that i noticed that ive done more miles then usual for the petrol used, and ive been giving it a good flogging (got to get used to the new driving experiance lol)

i figured it takes less power to spin the flywheel so its made it a bit more efficiant(sp?)?

Yeah, I thought that also after I started getting an extra 15 miles to my £25 of Optimax. Here's some calcs:
  • OEM: I was getting ~140miles to £25 Optimax (29.07 litres or 6.39 Gallons). 140 / 6.39 = 21.91 MPG
  • Fidanza 4.2KG Flywheel: I am now consistantly getting ~155 miles to £25 Optimax. 155 / 6.39 = 24.26 MPG

My driving style has not changed....if anything, I am a little harder on the car now. Going on the above, I now save 60p per mile. I figure on the above 2.35MPG increase in economy (and 60p saving per mile), the Fidanza flywheel should have paid for itself after 34 petrol stops at £25 per time.

How's that StickyMicky?
