""springy" clutch on my04 WRX
has anybody else had a problem with an 03-04 car where the clutch springs seem soft?
It is probably my driving. but....
1000 miles complete. so time to have a play. tried a couple of faster starts but i can get it going wthout the car "lurching" forward when the clutch is engaged. to me it feels like the clutch springs are too soft and are wound right down when the clutch is engaged and the "lurch" is the clutch catching up with the engine.
I am no expert, does this sound reasonable, more to the point is it normal? or is it just me? never had this problem on my MY97.
this happens every time unless on low revs and pulling off slowly.
thanks for any help
Pete

Same on my MY04 WRX Wagon. Only way I can get a quick pull away with minimum 'lurch' is to slightly slip the clutch! Sometimes I've run out of 1st gear before even getting the clutch fully up. Can't imagine it's doing it much good
Had a chat with my dealer about this, and he knew of the issue. It's that way the clutch pedal (or something like that) is designed. He did give me a good description on why it exactly happens, but I can't remember now.
Some 'thing-a-me-jig' on the clutch pedal can be adjusted/greased to minimize the 'lurching'.
Have a chat with your dealer
