Question oil change question?

Currently using semi-synth in MY97 Sti (full de-cat, 1.2 bar). The car has done 50,000 miles and I have always changed oil every 3 to 5k. Can I change to a fully synth oil without any problems? Loads of people have said I should be running a full synth oil - I am just not sure whether you can change over after using semi for so long.

Help need please!

Thanks

No problem, just flush with the new oil.

Question

I am about to change my Oil and was wondering what you folks would recommend for a 55k miles WRX import that is mainly doing short journeys with the occasional longer run?
The car currently has Motul 300V in it and I was considering putting Mobil 1 15w 50 in next....

I have read so much about Oil on SN! (I'm getting confused!)

Morris 10w 50 or Silkolene Pro S 10w 50, you know it makes sense. The Morris is suppoesed to be the dogs dangly bits. But then again, so is Silkolene imho.
Oilman, where are ya? lol.

Changing from Motul to Mobil?
Why when you can use lower viscosity (say 10W/40 or 5W/40) 300V if you do short journeys?

Since going from Mobil to Motul I consider Mobil to be similar to wee wee..

I'd stick with the Motul..

Thanks!

The main reason for changing to Mobil was that is was easy to get hold of!

I guess I will get off my butt and find some fresh Motul!

Can someone PM me a website/details for someone who sells Motul, I have just been all over Milton Keynes and I cannot find a stockist!

yep 4.5 as said.. although I put 4.4 in to ensure it is not over filled.

I thought I posted but it is not there..

motul can be got from www.camskill.com or demon tweaks.

We recommend Silkolene PRO S 10w-50 or 5w-40 depending on type of driving, mods etc as being an excellent oil for scoobs and the prices are not going to break the bank, see the recent group buy in the "group buys" section.

Avoid 15w for winter use, 10w or 5w will give you better cold start protection and this is where 70 percent plus of the wear occurrs.

You can always email us for prices

Cheers
