Default oil change

just a quick question for the experts , carrying out an oil change today on my 95 wrx import , gona use 15/50 mobil 1 oil , the thing is the oil in the car is quite mucky , would it be ok to run some engine flush through the engine before i do the oil change in order to give it abit of a clean , or should i just drop old oil out and put new in without engine flush first , thanx lads

I understand it's the general consensus that you should NOT
use engine flush.

I've just had a major service done by main dealer and on the final invoice was some engine flush, so i guess it must be ok..
If you are worried get some cheap 10w/40 oil and change it to that first, run it for about 15 - 20 miles then change to your mobil 1.

Use the new oil to flush, it's the safest way to do it.

15w-50 may be too heavy for winter, consider 5w-40 or 10w-50 as they will give you better cold start protection than 15w and you need cold start protection!

Cheers
