oil change
alright lads , going to do an oil change on my 95 wrx at the weekend , the last time i done one i used mobil 1 oil i think it was 15/50 not sure though , anyway what oil should i use this time any recomendations ,ie castrol rs, etc, asked the subaru dealer and do you know what they said , they use helix shell , so if any lads are from the boro area i dont recomend taking there pride and joy to the new scoob dealer on cargo fleet , looking at the oil they use , i would expect they do oil changes just like a normal car oil change and not take spark plugs out etc , the way its supose to be done ..and thats the flippin dealer who know it all ,,, suposadly............

The general concensus of oil to use is Mobil 1 15W50, Castrol 10W60 RS or Motul 300V.
This seems to be the most recognised method of changing the oil :-
Cheers
This seems to be the most recognised method of changing the oil :-
1) Warm engine
2) Drain old oil from sump
3) Remove old filter
4) Pre-fill new filter with fresh oil. Fill and keep filling until it won't take anymore.
5) Apply new filter
6) Apply new washer to sump plug and tighten
7) Fill engine oil filler to mid-way between two holes on the dipstick
8) Disconnect crank sensor
9) (Preferably) remove spark plugs
10) Dry crank engine at least until oil pressure light extinguishes - ideally for 20 seconds or so more.
11) Refit spark plugs
12) Refit crank sensor plug
13) Start engine, leave to idle for a good minute or so before driving for oil pressure to stabilise
14) Check sump plug and filter seal for adequate tightness/leaks
15) Go for slow drive until engine fully warmed
16) Top engine oil to upper hole
17) Check sump plug and filter seal for adequate tightness/leaks
