Default would an 'up-pipe' be fruitful???

Guy's, I have a my00 with full SS decat, and 801 ecu, and K&N panel filter, no dawes!
Thinking about an up pipe, apart from being a swine to fit, what added benefit would it give me??

All advice listened to, but not necessarily adhered to!!

Ron.

i've got one for sale, if you like? never fitted it for long, so can't comment really on added benefits, as i ended up having a problem elsewhere on the car

Ron

Why would you want a different up-pipe?

From your spec I cant see it deriving any benefits at all.........

Up-pipe changes are only really useful if the manifold and/or up-pipe is reducing the potential power of your car...... standard up-pipe will be more than capable......

Plus if you do go ahead be very careful - i.e. Version Gruppe S jobbies were a nightmare - some leak badly.......... I'd save yourself the hassle and not bother....

Waste of money and time IMHO !

Save your money and look into a ECUTEK TEK2 remap at somewhere like Power Engineering. Yes its more money but boy do you get power for pounds.

You would be looking at a safe 270BHP 270LBF with your current set up !!!

Cheers

Anything under approx 300/320 bhp and an uppipe will only lose you turbo spool up time. Above this output and you will free off the top end power assuming your turbo will flow more ? (which a td04 will not !)

how about porting the OE up-pipe, along with ported headers, and a VF24 turbo, and suitable remap

I was thinking of porting my up-pipe - a slip jointed h&s one - as it doesnt quite mate to the Gruppe S manifold - but the I keep thinking about appropriately sized gaskets.........need to look into it - never could figure how a 58mm outlet could go into a 54mm from a gasket perspective!!

I had h&s standard up-pipe on my car when it was producing 400bhp - going to Gruppe S manifold and up-pipe did nothing on the rollers..........

Porting your headers and up-pipe will give a useful gain and quicker spool. No need to go for a different up-pipe until you have added a fair bit of power and even then the design of the up-pipe is critical.
Fitting Gruppe S headers and up-pipe to my WRX Wagon on a TD04 actually reduced performance but all that changed with bigger injectors and 05-06 20G.
