on my 94 sti import when sitting still with engine running if you give the accelerator a push when the revs decrease there is a slight metal screeching noise from the engine.i have not a clue what it is any chance you could help me???also the day before when i was sitting i accelerated when sitting still the revs went nowhere at all and struggled to rise plus the engine nearly cut out a few times as if to stall but didnt its really worrying me any advice or comments will be greatly appreciated

Difficult one this, it could be the turbo up pipe shield which makes an awful racket when it separates from the inner piping.

Or it could be the clutch release bearing running dry.

Or the flywheel pilot bush running dry.

Or the aircon pump, or the power steering belt, or the alternator bushes.

OR just about anything from your description. I recommend that you take it to a garage for an opinion without the obligation of having the work done until you get two opinions.
