Default Tips on cleaning up 2nd hand exhaust?

Come by a nice second hand number, as per pix below, although it's not all stainless steal goodies so main piping has seen better days but no holes or owt. So any cunning plans, tips or otherwise on sprucing it up a bit & giving it some protection for future abuse er i mean use
Cheers folks
Si

I gave my second hand HKS exhaust a rub with some fine sand paper then painted it with Hot Paint (Silver or Black) from halfords looks good as new now.

A pretty cheap way to clean it up is to get it shot blasted, if you can find a company that does shot blasting it should cost you no more than £20 to do that. It will come out propper smoothe and very clean.

Then to protect it i would either paint it with engine paint or even think about getting it plated, it may sound silly but a friend of mine had an old exhaust sytem and had it chrome plated, it cost him £30 to get it chrome plated, it looked propper 'bling bling' when he had it done, only problem with that is im not sure if it flakes off after a while ?
