Default Missfire on 95 WRX

Any advice anyone on how to cure a missfire on my 95 WRX? It only occurs when I really wind it up a bit i.e. high boost. I have changed the plugs but if anything it has got slightly worse. Plug gap is 1mm. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you changed the coil packs?

Thumbs up

The usual things to check. Coils (most likely) Plug gap normally recommended at 0.7.

Anything more than that and I'll have to let someone else take over

Firstly set the plug gaps to 0.7mm as already suggested, failing that if the miss-fire occurs under boost conditions it is likely a coil pack/s is breaking down

Cheers

If the car has done circa 60k, then it would be the coil packs......Don't just replace one, do them all.

Could also be due to an overfill of engine oil..?? whats the level like..? when its to full oil can get into the boost solonoid on the left hand strut tower..

Prob most likley be the coil packs though..! had this on my car.

make sure you gap the plugs at 0.65/0.7mm ... as mentioned 1 mm gap is far too big.

as all the above too..

otherwise start looking at compression tests, ignitor module and fault codes.

New coil packs fitted and 'the jobs a good un'.

Many thanks again for the advice guys, it's great to be flying again. I have also reset the plug gaps back to 0.7mm (straight after first mention) and everything now seems to be doing what it should.
