Question Oily smell inside the car?

Does anyone else get an oily smell inside the car when in traffic?

After a good thrash it smells like a series 1 RS turbo or mk1 golf GTI. Or sometime it randomly smells of clean oil.

I've had a look and the breathers all are ok and the engine bay doesn't smell at all.

Any opinions?

IIRC this started just after the TD05/06 was fitted, the car also has quite a lot of other mods though too, GEMS, induction kit, BOV, TMIC, de-cat. Nothing though that would cause this as far as i can see.

Cheers, Dave.

Is your decat DP heat wrapped? Might just be more heat from the turbo is burning off the anti corrosion around the DP. Check your gearbox for any leaks, they sometimes weep slightly from the sensors and just need nipped up to stop it.

Oil is probally leaking from the manifold gaskets onto the exhaust manifold .

this is a common fault on the classic scoobs .
