K+N 57i on MY99
Is this the MAF killer I am told it is? I have heard that a dry filter like a stainless steel one is best for this MY? Which is it?

Wouldn't have thought the risk of oil contamination was any higher than the K&N panel filter (pretty low). I thought the main issue was vibration ...?

Provided it's secure enough not to get beaten about, while being sufficiently isolated from engine and body related shock loadings not to vibrate the MAF sensor to bits, there's no reason to think the lifetime of the sensor itself should be affected one way or t'other.
