Default Heatsoak when changing to 6MT

Hi all

I'm thinking of getting a 6 speed for my 99 GT. I'm not sure that the standard GT 5 speed can take more than the current 310 bhp, so need to change before doing any more work on the car.

My question is, how many of you are running v5 TMIC with the 6 speed? Asking because I think I saw a remark once about problems with IC heatsoak in this combination. Have any of you tried it?

Thanks in advance

I run an APS TMIC with larger scoop and 6MT - I noticed a ~4 degree C rise in intake temps on extended boost.

It's hard to be definitive, as the airflow through the intercooler dictates how quickly it can recover from constant WOT activity (such as you'd see on track). I guess that saturation point will also come quicker, but that will have to wait until I've had it on track for any data worthwhile.

Lots can be done to combat it, it seems - my current cone filter set-up is sucking in air at 10 degrees above ambient temp at a steady 130kmh cruise (), I'm in the middle of screening this off and ensuring a cold airflow.
