Default What would cause this Det characteristic?

Recently I fitted a Link knock sensor and have lately noticed a strange occurence. If I am anywhere above about 7000 rpm in 5th and back off and re-apply WOT I get the red knock light come on for a second and then it goes back to showing only the 2nd green light. The knock light coincides with boost coming back on. I cant seem to get it to happen in lower gears and cant test 6th for obvious reasons any suggestions as to why and how dangerous it could be?

Its an MY02 STi with a dawes at ~1.15bar (peaking at a bit over 1.2), Perrin panel filter, up-pipe and 3 inch exhaust.

Assuming you have an STi. When you WOT again at such high RPM, you might have boost overshoot up to 1.3 bar despit your Dawes. That's too high for fuel pump/FPR at such high RPM. Overshoot are never good and can be dangerous for the engine.
Swap your dawes for a good electronic boost controler (Apex-i AVCR for example) which can control your overshoot or decrease boost presure on the dawes.
You can also play with the hose restrictor and find the one which will give you a lower overshoot.

I would recommand to shift to 6th above 6500
