Gearbox issues, please help
Just been informed that my gearbox is on its way out,
Since i bought it there has been a constant rattle from the engine, it sounds like a loose heatshield but i have just been informed by prosport in stockport that some bushes in the gearbox have broken down?? Has anyone heard of this problem on a car that has only done 62000miles.
Also if this is the problem they want £600 just to think about fixing it!
So oes anyone know where i could pick up a gearbox for an English Turbo on an S plate, which would not hurt the bank as much?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

If its a classic shape one, I've got a spare that I've bought at a scrapyard. Depending on where you are Rally Colin could do it in less than a day for a swap.

Swapping the gearbox over to another one. Unless of course you want to recondition your old box which is a few hundreds on top of the cost of removing and refitting the box. Gearboxes are cheap(ish) to replace and we all know it'll gonna go bang one day if you drag race. As for me, I think I'd be better off reonditioning mine if it goes wrong as I've got the old RA box which is not easy to find (short gears, long diff). So its all to do with your budget and what you want to do with it.
He's in Reading btw. I can give you his number and he's damn reliable as hell.

are his boxes reconditioned or are they straight out the scrappers (possibly ready to go again)

Thats the thing. I dont know if he has any. But he can fit them. But if Plantie is still about, you can ask him the condition of his box which I weirdly have now as spare for when Santa Pod kills my box.
ps, lay off the paddle clutch if he offers it. I'll need it soon lol.
