KnockLink fitted, not lighting up ??
Can't search the topic, hence the post!
I wired up and fitted the knocklink sensor to my 2001WRX, (rear passenger side area on the block) and the display box doesn't light up at all, engine on or off. (While tapping the block gently).
Ground is earthed properly with an earthing tag where the ECU mounts in footwell, so think that one's ok... and I've taken power from the 'O2 CEL fix' power lead (yellow) which is connected into the ECU pin 12 (i think).
Any ideas?? Or is the engine working like a dream

The connection for power needs to be a 12v supply switchable from the ignition. So check that you've got the right wire.
You'd be much better off taking it from the ignition live.
If it's right, the bottom green light will light dimly all the time.
Testing the sensor: DON'T tap the block lightly, this will do nothing. If it did, whenever the engine was running you'd get Xmas tree lights.
Tap the sensor itself lightly with the plastic handle of a screwdriver or something.

If you've wired up correctly you should see the bottom green light illuminate when the ignition is on.
If this isn't lit, then you need to check your wiring.
If this is lit, and you're just not getting any activity on the KL, then check the instructions for calibrating via the little dial on top of the box.

We install hundreds of these things. Tapping the sensor lightly will not damage it at all.

It depends what you're using to test it with. Don't forget, a "knock" inside a cylinder, isn't like a sledgehammer knocking a wall down. It's a noise with a frequency of around 6KHz. So, something thin, light, and metallic (like an aerial, or a metal coat hanger for instance), gently tapping the bolt the sensor's connected to the block with should suffice.

I find tapping the bolt that holds the sensor to the block a good place to hit. As Rich has said hitting the block doesn't always work, i had to practically hit the **** out of my block to get the kncocklink to register!
