Unhappy Leaky power steering pump

My power steering pump seems to be leaking a lot of fluid from somewhere near the base and making an awful mess of my engine. Does anyone know anything about fixing this? Is it a complete new pump job or simply a seal or two that need replacing?

Thanks
Dave.

there are some small oil seals between the tank unit and the pump itself. You may simply need to replaces these rather than a complete assembly

Is this simply a case of unbolting the tank and slipping in the seals and bolting it down again then?

Thanks
Dave.

Yes except for power steering oil going everywhere.

Do you have a round or a square bottle?

If round then there is three small bolts and if the pipe clip on the left is loosened you can pull the bottle up and turn it over to limit the oil loss.. there is a nozzle that passes through the bracket it was bolted to and into the pump. the Nozzle has an oring on it and is about 80p from the dealer iirc..
You simply replace and refit, trying not to damage the oring in the process.
There is also a recess in the top of the pump for another oring but believe that is for the different bottle.. but I fitted one anyway.. which I got from Halfords in a universal packet.. but pretty sure it is not neccessary, but I was in there and I already had the oring.

If you have a square one I believe the bolts go right through the bottle and bolt directly to the pump and has again an oring on the nozzle and an oring I tnink between pump and bottle on top.
Pumps are the same just the bottle different depending on year.

I'll have to go and check if the tank is round or square. As for the fluid going everywhere... it already has! It's leaked out all over the pump. There can't be much left in there.

Thanks for the advice I'll try and fix it one night this week.

Cheers
Dave.

lol at fluid everywhere already..

Buy some replacement fluid too..

The only other place it could leak from I believe is the seal around the pulley spindle... removing the pulley so you can clearly see the seal will show you it is leaking or not.

Think mine was £4.75 from the dealer and I didn't need it as no leak.. another item in the spares box.

I've just had my pump off, it was leaking from the gear cover. 4 bolts, and i used a bit of 3 bond when putting it back on. It's a pain cleaning up the mess under the inlet!
