Guys

Any comments on the above? I'm planning some changes to my RB5 and have looked at this from NAM. I'm putting in a Unichip so it can be mapped for fuel and air but retaining the safety of the standard ecu. I know it sits in the wing but how does this affect the MAF and does it need the resonator removed.

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

For it to sit in the wing, the resonator will need to come out!

There shouldn't be any issues with the MAF, as it's a basically a K&N cone filter, and they seem quite good.

I'm running, the same filter but I no longer have to worry about the MAF sensor, as the Link does not use it!!

Hope this helps

Andy

Silly question but what is the resonator anyway? Also how is it on noise?

Hi Tim,

I think the resonator is there to stop crap entering your engine, as well as smooth out the air flow and reduce air noise - I could be wrong, but I'm sure someone will correct me!

As for noise, I really don't noice it! But then I've quite a loud exhaust, turbo and dump valve doing their thing as well!

You can hear it draw in air, and it does get louder with more throttle, but I guess I got use to it! It's certainly not as loud as some!

Hope this helps

Cheers Andy.

I'm after a quiet induction kit and I have heard that the APS is quieter than others.

Sorry if I'm being cheeky, but can I tempt you with a RamPod induction kit?? The only reason I'm selling it, is that I can't use it with my APS FMIC!

Nice try Mr Tang

I've already looked at your ad but have decided on the APS kit. Unless anyone can suggest otherwise?

Hi Tim.

APS was fitted week last Monday, along with a downpipe and the headers were ported.
As I've had so many other things done at the same time, it's difficult to say what the impact of the APS kit has been.
However, it is quite 'loud' Not so much with the windows closed, but when open, its a little too much for me (but then again, I'm a 37 yr old family man )
Changing gear sounds like you have a dump value fitted and the car is running slightly lean so I would give it alot of consideration if you can't adjust your fuelling accordingly. Otherwise, its a good choice. 3 people who's comments I value highly have all said to me (independently) that induction kits are not worth the money, apart from the APS cold air one. If you can cope with the noise, get one today :-)

David.

Tim,

re: Davids comments, I would have thought that the other mods have caused the car to run lean not the induction kit.

I think it strange that people say induction kits are not worth the money. Before I fitted the HKS kit my car would run out of puff at 5500rpm, after fitting it pulls all the way to the red line...........

How's that not worth the money?

Are you telling porkies??! - somehow I dont think an induction kit makes that much difference!
(Not a dig at all, just common sense)

Performance advantage is minimal - most people get it for the noise
