Have I got overboost?
Paul,
I'm no expert but I doubt that you have overboost. The first time I experienced it, I thought the engine had blown, such was the reduction in engine power. Others describe it as hitting a brick wall. 'Hesitation' would be an understatement.

Occasionally when accelerating hard in 1st from around 1500rpm (i.e. not a drop the clutch 3k launch) the revs increase fast, then at around 4000rpm it seems to hesitate for a split second then continue the rapid increase to the red line.
I have Magnex decat centre and backbox, K & N panel filter and standard ECU on my UK95 turbo. Could it be overboost? ALL other gears are fine, no problem.
I run either Optimax or esso SUL. What difference would octane booster make?

Yeah I agree with Paul it doesnt sound like overboost.
Overboost is 'not' a slight loss of power its a big thump as if you slipped a gear while thrashing through the gears.
There are lots of threads on this subject so run a search on it M8.
Cheers
