Question 6 spd gearbox

What all would i need to get the six speed in to a MY93 WRX? I take it would be best to use a JDM 6 Spd. Im bit confused to what all i need for the conversion.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

I read somewhere that my car would have an R160 rear diff and the sti's with the 6 spd had r180 so would i need the rear hubs etc off one of these??

Katana think there is no search button anymore.

That sucks. The main point of scoobynet for me is the ability to search for past technical data. Now we're going to have hundreds of "Whats overboost" threads by people that could've searched for it.

Hehe I know now. Read the thread. I was panicking for a few seconds as I'd have call Mark, Colin, Andy F,Rob and other experts 24/7 asking where this hose goes.

If you already have a 3.9 rear diff, then you can use it with the JDM 6MT. You will need an STi7/8 prop (or shorten your own), plus shift linkage and gear ****.

Bats_WRX, You won't have a 3.9 rear diff in an import WRX, unless someones changed it already. It'll be either a 4.4:1 or possibly a 4.1:1. Thus you'll need a rear diff to go with a 6 speeder when you find one.

a UK 6 spd box will bolt into a UK 5spd car using the std rear diff.

For Jap spec cars, you will need a matching 3.9 rear diff. You can get a R-160, 3.9CWP from an Impreza Sport 2.0 AWD UK car.
Then rebuild your turbo's LSD into the 3.9 a,d hey presto.

Mechanically the box will bolt pretty much straight in. You will also need the complete gear linkage.
Propshaft from an automatic classic shape Impreza will fit.
