Dastek Rolling Road review
Went along to Dastek to have a shot of their rollers today.
Nice setup with a sound-proofed cell and very impressive fans.
There was no apparent slip, coolant, oil, EGTs, boost and knock all behaved virtually identical to the road. Run time was about 18 seconds through fourth gear.
Three runs produced very similar figures, a far quicker inertia based run was done which was also similar but did not capture the midrange torque as the load was too low and the boost did not reach target. This mode is really only used if the car cannot accelerate the rollers low down which would give a strange shaped curve until it had enough torque to do so. Does anyone know if the present Bosch rollers (Prosport?) use this method or not?
I will post up plots from my car later - torque and wheel power were as expected at 391lbft at 3750 RPM, and 353 WHP at 6150 RPM.
Flywheel power was 402 BHP at 6150 RPM approx.
Interesting that the losses are so low. Operator said this is because the car is not pulled down hard onto the rollers. How it would compare with other rollers I don't know.
To me 50 BHP losses seems far more realistic than 70 BHP with this gearing which is more usual.
Delta Dash figures immediately after were 341 WHP and 351 WTq using a base weight of 1300 kg plus passengers, fuel and luggage (MY00 UK with aircon and 6 speed).
Runs on Delta Dash and rollers were in 4th gear (6 speed UK STi 7 gearbox).

How much did it cost to get your car on the rollers at Dastek?
I live 2 mins away and ain't had mine on rollers before so might pop along.

Great results John.
Regarding car weight, I had my car on a weigh bridge and it tipped the scales at 1370kg. That was with me in the car at 87kg and a quarter of a tank of Juice. Car is a MY00 sedan with aircon.

John - the prosport system - Bosch FLA 206 can run in 'shootout ' mode to do quick power runs or can do more sophisticated runs using simulated hill driving etc where load is applied to the rollers to represent 'road driving' - the software will also detect slip and warn on screen if there is too much - can then add people in the boot etc!
It is a lot more sophisticated than the old water braked systems at other premises - the software is far more capable than the hokey calculations used by some of the ancient setups frequented by scoobynetters!
on organised RR days it is likely that power runs (usually 2) only will be done - but if you are looking for some more comprehensive diagnostics you should give them a ring
power loss on printout from prosport rollers last sat was 48.1 hp for a spec c and 51.6 hp for my B4
