Cam belt change + service cost £450.53????
#1
Subaru quoted 450.53 pounds for the 45k service. This is high considering they only change the cam belt which they say takes two hours and then the only other changes are the oil plus filter and the power steering fluid. The rest are just checks. Please advise anywhere cheaper.....PLEASE

I wouldn't look around to get this sort of work done on price but firstly quality then value for money. Could say a cambelt is a cambelt, but it is not something to mess with. I am not saying it should necessarily be a Subaru dealer, but neither should it be the cheapest quote unless you know you will get a top notch job. If I was looking for a car that was of an age that it had needed a cambelt change that would be the thing I would want to know about before many other important things when buying the car, because if it is not done then the consequences can be massive for the engine. Hope you find somewhere that will do you an excellent job for a good price and not carefully that it is done in the service book.

when you look at the price of the cam belt over £100 2hrs to fit 2hrs for the rest of the checks + vat not far short of £400.
I would'nt scrimp on cam belt and service.

i'm getting my 45k service done at the moment by Lockyear Cars. Price quoted was also £450. But at 45k you are also getting the intermediate service rather than the "oil change".

Thats nothing, Had the cam belt change done a few months ago and new it was going to cost around £450, but when it was in for the service, they rang me and said I needed new discs and pads, which bumpped up the cost to £945 for the service.......That hit the pocket hard...........
