Blue and White smoke
#1
MY99 just had a PPP last week is blowing Blue and White smoke when standing at traffic lights. Any guesses would be much appreciated.
Taking it to the garage in the morning to see what they think but I don't think it is going to be simple

Blown cylinder head gasket ?
Blue/white smoke being the coolant (Maybe oil also) getting into cylinders and burning up.
Coolant leaking into cylinder(s) usually manifests itself with difficult starting and/or running with 3 or less cylinders (and white smoke). You can also get a lot of pressure and air in the cooling system.

My UK94 blew a piston last year (my fault), however it resulted in poor starting ability and plumes of blue oil smoke....
However it did strangely run clean enough with a little bit of smoke on the overrun.
Starting it was a bugger as it was down on compression.
Hopefully yours isn't this. With white smoke it does sound like water is entering into the combustion.
BS.

Sounds like Oil (blue) and water (white). expensive!
Yesterday after cornering at max G and a couple of pops my car now
admits grey smoke from the exhaust and will not idle. The local
garage should be fitting a new air sensor today so fingers cross!

Yup nice to be home.............
Met Jackie Stewart in a bar on my last night.......a top guy, as you might expect.
Car running well after some tlc from the boys at Falkland (thanks Kevin) and Nobles (PIAA lights).
Left the house at 05.50 to get a good run to work today. Have started timing my trips, this could be a bad sign.

Willie,
I rate them at Falkland, and you have got the 4WD rolling road just around the corner to test out the performance.
Have you checked out their green mean machine yet ?
Good luck. Why can't they improve their coffee there though ? Nice burger van outside the gate makes up for it though.

Hey Simon
Well took the car to Falkland yesterday to get the steering alignment. This was done and makes the car very different to drive at speed .
I got them to change the spark plugs in the hope that that was the cause of the power dip at about 4000rpm.
But didn't fix the problem. Falkland think it might be the ECU and have suggested changing back to the standard one to see what happens.
I was quite impressed by Falkland nice people. Didn't get to check out the coffee or burger van I am on a diet - ask Ceri...
Job for another day me thinks as I am a little busy at work at the mo' however might just ring nobles and ask them to take a look.
I just get the feeling that nobles get a little pissed of with me ringing them all the time but.....

That's what they get paid the big bucks for.
They are the servants, you the master......
I actually think they understand the relationship.
The customer is always right, even if they are overboosing, or the head gasket has gone.....
