as the owner of a euro import with a wee bit of clutch judder, has anyone fitted a non standard clutch ie AP or other uprated one?? i was offered a standard one by the dealer and then try and claim back from holland but if it goes (and it will ,because there made of chocolate and tea leaves) i dont want to change another clutch,

if anyone has changed to an uprated one can you advise if it is worth it in terms of ease of use, smothness etc

thanks

Dave,

I've recently had an AP clutch fitted and found it a little lighter than the previous clutch (whatever it was!)

The AP is a little brisk in it's pick-up but I'm getting better at eradicating the driveline shunt! I suspect a couple of weeks more practice and It'll be perfect.

To put it another way, I'm glad I put an AP in!!

I've ran an ap clutch for about a year now and had no probs at all.
It can get a little grabby at times but if you start upping the power its going to be a question of when you'll need one, not if.

thanks for responses, did you get clutch done at a specialist subaru tuner ie tsl or other? or at an ap dealer?

regards

Falkland Performance Centre in Glenrothes supplied and fitted my clutch as well as skimmed the flywheel. I had a lot of other stuff done at the same time so it's difficult to say exactly how much it cost but I know they needed the car for the whole day.

I would give them a call, they're always helpful.

The clutch itself is around £330-340 - try BR Developments (www.brdevelopments.com) they have them in stock.

You will need some other bits and pieces and then have it fitted. Don't know what total budget should be as I haven't had mine put on yet - awaiting some other work to be completed.

Les, as its an EU import dealer will only fit a "standard" clutch, the P1 option is only availiable to P1 owners and cars bought in uk, a bit pedantic i know but thats life! i was told that i could have the standard one put in at a cost £900 but i would rather spend the money with someone more helpful than the dealer network

Bought my AP clutch for £193 inc (Trade Price @ Kingswood Autopart), fitted by a local garage for £200 all in, my car is a 94 WRX though, don't know if the clutches are any different but it seemed a very sensible price! Fitting could of been cheaper if I wasn't in such a hurry too.
